Fall in the Raleigh area is definitely a special time of year. The scenery is among the most beautiful in the world, the days are bright and sunny, and the weather is just crisp enough to layer on a comfy sweater or two. To celebrate all that is wonderful about the fall season, and about our region in general, we love to host festivals and fairs! From beer to mules, we find a reason to celebrate everything. Here are a few of the biggest and most unique festivals you’ll find in and around Raleigh this fall:
Brewgaloo NC Craft Beer Festival
September 17-18, 2021 | Downtown Raleigh, NC
Do you love beer, food trucks, and live music? So do most people in Raleigh, which is why the annual Brewgaloo is always a hit! This 2-day festival celebrates all that is local and tasty with 110 craft breweries from around the state, local food trucks, local vendors, and local bands. Kick off the festival Friday night with a sampler event and block party, then come back all day Saturday to soak up the good vibes.
September 23-26, 2021 | Benson Chamber Park, Benson, NC
A celebration unlike any other, this annual homage to the often-overlooked mule is full of competitions, arts and crafts, food vendors, dances, carnival rides, parades, and concerts. Mules are the stars of every show, and bask in this once-a-year spotlight! It’s a unique opportunity to highlight these hard working farm animals that have contributed so much to our state.
October 1-2, 2021 | Booth Amphitheatre, Raleigh, NC
Come out to Central North Carolina’s largest celebration of authentic German food and culture! Sample beers from Munich, taste traditional Bavarian food, enjoy live entertainment, and watch a dozen Wiener Dogs race for first place. There will be face painting and games for the kids, a hammer-striking competition, and the highly anticipated Miss and Mrs. Oktoberfest contest. Willkommen!
Selma Railroad Days
October 1-2, 2021 | Downtown Selma, NC
Come celebrate all things Selma is this fun and family-friendly annual festival in one of Johnston County’s liveliest towns! There will be live entertainment on two stages, food vendors, a huge Kids Zone, a parade, hollering contest, and model train displays.
N.C. State Fair
October 14-24, 2021 | Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC
Get ready for 10 days of delicious food, thrilling rides and games, outdoor music stages, grandstand shows, friendly competitions, and so much more! The North Carolina State Fair has been operating since 1853 and gets more thrilling each year. This year, there are dozens of new food vendors and exciting new rides — all to showcase the state’s agriculture, agribusiness, arts, crafts, and culture.
October 16, 2021 | Carroll Howard Johnson Park, Fuquay-Varina, NC
This not-to-be-missed Halloween event is one of the scarier ones in the Triangle, but only after 7 p.m. From 5-6 you can bring the entire family out for a sun-lit walk through the haunted path, and all the ghouls and goblins will be in full sight, friendly, and ready to say hello. After that it’s every man and woman for him and herself as you venture through the dark woods completely unaware of who (or what) is lurking behind the corner.
October 27-31, 2021 | Horne Square & Town Square, Clayton, NC
This is one of the largest festivals in Johnston County, and for the past 70 years, it has not disappointed! Come enjoy traditional fair rides, games and food, a singing competition, classic car show, tractor show, bike show, local performances, and a Latin American Festival celebration.
